Pete SlusherPete Slusher has been serving as Senior Pastor of Community Bible Church since April 1996. Pastor Pete received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio and his Masters of Divinity degree from Northwest Baptist Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. Prior to serving at CBC, Pete was an Associate Pastor for 5 years in Santa Clarita, California and Youth Pastor for 9 years in Richland, Washington. Pastor Pete enjoys golfing, spending time with his own family and his church family.
Pete and his wife Kathy were married in December 1978. Kathy grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and is also a graduate of Cedarville University. Kathy is actively involved in a variety of ministries at CBC, including teaching Bible studies and serving on the Women’s Ministries Committee. Kathy is also a tax accountant for Stewardship Services Foundation(SSF)in Newhall, California. SSF is a ministry that prepares taxes for pastors and missionaries worldwide. Kathy enjoys reading, baking and entertaining.
Pete and Kathy have a married son, Mike, who with his wife Samantha live in Springfield, Ohio. Mike is an executive in a manufacturing plant and Sam is a nurse in the community hospital. Katie, their daughter graduated from The Master’s College and is an auditor with KPMG. She lives in Orange County, CA.
Don ThayerDon Thayer has been serving on staff at Community Bible Church since October 1997. Pastor Don served as Youth Pastor from October 1997 until February 2002 and is currently the Associate Pastor as well as the Worship Pastor. Pastor Don received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Pastor Don enjoys golfing, fishing, singing, swimming with his family, and traveling.
Don and his wife Susan were married in October of 1992. Susan grew up in Richland, Washington and is actively involved in various ministries at CBC, including serving as the nursery coordinator and teaching a weekly ladies Bible study. Don and Susan have three sons and a daughter. Susan enjoys being a "stay-at-home mom", scrapbooking, ministry at CBC, “tea times” with girlfriends and family days.
Dale BitterlingDale Bitterling has been serving as Youth Pastor of Community Bible Church since March of 2002. Pastor Dale grew up in Central Point, Oregon, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Oregon University in Ashland in 1990. Prior to serving at CBC, Pastor Dale was an elementary school teacher in the Rogue Valley for 11 years. He continues to provide a vital link between CBC and School District #6 through substitute teaching and working with the district to create other after-school programs for their students. Pastor Dale enjoys back-packing, water skiing, and most outdoor activities.
Dale and his wife Debbie were married in December of 1989. Dale and Debbie are blessed with a daughter and a son. Their family enjoys camping, biking, and playing games. Debbie grew up in Central Point, Oregon (and at Community Bible Church) and is a graduate of Rogue Community College. Debbie is actively involved in the Youth Ministry at CBC. Debbie is a Respiratory Therapist at both Medford hospitals. She enjoys reading, horseback riding and water skiing.
Rick BurnsRick Burns has been serving as Pastor of Christian Education since October 2003. Pastor Rick grew up in southern Oregon and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene. In 1969, Rick received his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. Prior to serving at CBC, Rick served 28 years at First Baptist Church, Medford, as Pastor of Christian Education. Before that, he served for two years as Youth Pastor at Geneva Community Church in Bellingham Washington.
Rick and his wife Susan were married in 1965 at her home church (Winnetka Bible Church) in Winnetka, Illinois. Susan grew up in Winnetka and graduated from Ray Vogue School of Art and Interior Design in Chicago, Illinois. Susan is involved in Children’s Ministries at CBC in both Sunday School and Awana. She enjoys reading, camping, fishing, decorating and grand parenting.
Rick and Susan have two grown children, Todd and Kirstine, who with their families both live in Central Point and are involved in the life and ministry of CBC. Todd and his wife Josie have three girls and a boy. Kirstine and her husband Tom have two sons and a daughter.
